Jacqui Oswin

Flugal Horn

Blidworth Welfare Band

Jacqui learnt to play at school aged 11, she then joined Newark Town Band, as well as playing with Clipstone Welfare, Thoresby Colliery and Ransome Band.

Jacqui then emigrated to New Zealand in 1989 where she joined Rotorua Brass, and in 1992  completed a tour of New Zealand with Shell National Band NZ.

In 1994 moved onto Principal Cornet with A Grade Band Brass Wanganui where she played for for 9 years. Jacqui was also principal cornet of the New Zealand Airforce Band Ohakea for 15 years.

 

As well as Brass Banding, Jacqui also played trumpet with pit orchestras for operas and some amateur orchestras, as well as playing trumpet with the Bay Big Band.

 

In 1995 Jacqui completed a tour of the USA with Shell National Band NZ, and in 2009 was the winner of an Open Cornet Solo National Contest in New Zealand.

In 2010 Jacqui returned to the UK and joined Blidworth Band, then playing with Newstead and Fossdyke.

Jacqui then returned to Blidworth and is now our flugal horn player!
