Charlotte Burton

Principal Euphonium

Blidworth Welfare Band

Growing up in a musical family, Charlotte started her musical journey playing the violin, and at the age of 16 started playing baritone with the Shirland Welfare Training Band. She later moved onto principal baritone in the Shirland Welfare Brass Band and eventually moved onto the euphonium.

After tuition from Adam Rutter, Charlotte auditioned for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she was awarded a scholarship and spent 4 years learning with Matthew White and Philippe Schwartz. Highlights include drinking in The Woodman, winning Unibrass with the brass band, and getting through to the Brass Prize final in her third year. In 2022, Charlotte graduated with a First Class Honours degree and is continuing her musical adventures where she is helping out with teaching music. She still plays the violin and proudly holds a grade 8 distinction. She also does some bits on trombone after having some lessons at university.

As well as music, Charlotte has a book collection of more than 1300 books and loves to read. She also loves cats.

Charlotte joined Blidworth in 2022 and enjoys the challenge of playing principal euphonium!
