Graeme Smith

Solo Trombone

Blidworth Welfare Band

Graeme or “Smudge” as he’s affectionately known, started his banding life with the Lee’s & Glodwick band (Now Oldham Brass) back in 1989, he moved to North Wales where he continued to play with Deeside Silver as principal trombone. In 1992 he joined the Army as a bandsman with the Royal Welch Fusiliers. Over the next 13 years, he toured all over the world as an army muscian, playing in high profile engagements in front of Royalty and presidents alike.

After a substantial break from playing and music, he returned to playing and accepted the principal trombone seat with the Foss Dyke band where he has been for the last 9 years. Recently he has also taken over his first ever role as an MD for the City of Lincoln band.

Smudge joined Blidworth Band in December 2023.
