Johh started playing at the age of 11 at the Dukeries School, in Ollerton. He then signed for Thoresby Band in 1969 & moved onto Bass Trombone in 1971.

John played for CISWO youth band from its conception until 1975, he then joined Bestwood band in 1974.

John then moved back to Thoresby in 1988 and played two years at the national finals at the Royal Albert Hall. John then joined the NCT band in 1992 & did another 2 years at national finals at the Royal Albert Hall! When the NCT band folded, John joined Stocksbridge then RHP until they also sadly folded. 

 

John then helped Ibstock Brass Band for about a year before finally joining Blidworth in 2007.
