Blidworth Welfare Band has been given a welcome boost in advance of their appearance at the Midlands Regional Championships (Championship Section) through the signing of a trio of players bringing with them a wealth of experience of top level banding.
Moving to the Nottinghamshire based band for the Midlands Area Championships are Keith Latham on Eb Bass who moves from Thoresby Colliery Band; Steve Hill on 2nd Cornet signing from Jaguar Land Rover Band and Simon Cheetham on 2nd Horn who is making a welcome return to banding.
Musical Director, Simon Oates said "Signing players of this calibre and experience is a welcome boost to the band as we prepare for the area contest. I have played at Thoresby with Keith and at JLR Band with Steve and know they are great players and will help us to put on a good performance of Odyssey in Bedworth in March. I am also delighted that we are tempting players such as Simon Cheetham back into banding and thank Karen Cretney for moving from 2nd Horn on to 2nd Cornet to accommodate the move".
Two further new signings will be announced soon.
