Lucy first started playing in her local band, Whitwell Brass aged 9, following in the musical footsteps of her parents; dad Ken who was Musical Director (and euphonium player) and mum Sarah who at the time was playing Principal Cornet. Lucy started on 3rd cornet after moving into the senior band from the training band and played at her first contest in 2004. Whilst playing with Whitwell Brass, the band visited Pfungstadt in Germany and toured the local area performing.

Since then Lucy has played cornet, horn and flugal with Thurcroft, Dinnington and Strata Brass before joining Blidworth band on 3rd cornet in 2012, moving onto the front row in 2014.

Lucy then moved to Shirebrook on 2nd man in 2018, before having a break from banding after having her daughter (and covid!) returning to Blidworth band in 2023 on the front row. Lucy is also a member of the committee at Blidworth and manages the social media/website.
