Mark first starting playing age 10, and started his brass banding career at Syston and Wigston bands, before moving to Snibston and Desford Colliery band in the early nineties, as well as stints playing at William Davis and Nottingham City Transport.

Mark then joined the Ratby Co-Operative Band in 2000, where he spent time playing both sop and flugel, after this Mark moved onto Sovereign Brass on sop in 2008.

After leaving Sovereign, Mark depped with a few other local bands such as Ibstock and Kibworth before hanging up his cornet, until recently after an 8 year break, Mark decided it was time to start playing again and joined Blidworth Band in October 2023
