MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Kevin Steward, Musical Director of the Hopkins Solicitors Blidworth Welfare Band, was appointed in March 2008.Kevin began his music making in his native Norfolk, learning to play Euphoniumwith the Cawston Band. Upon leaving schoolhe joined the army as a full-time musician playing in the Royal Artillery Orchestra and Military Band for eight years. When he left the army he continued his playing with the Desford Colliery and Dawty Band.

Kevins conducting career began in 1987 when he became Musical Director of the Desford Youth Band, winning two national titles andthe inaugural European championships. He then moved on to conduct the Snibston and Desford Band, taking them into the chamionship section. During his twenty one years of conducting Kevin has enjoyed leading some of the country's finest brass bands, including the Fodens Band, Staffordshire Band and Ratby Co-op Band. He is currently back as Resident conductor of the Desford Colliery Band.

Kevin is an accomplished band teacher and intends to lead the Hopkins Solicitors Blidworth Welfare Band to great success.
